What does a business card scanner do?
A business card scanner transfers the printed data from a paper business card into a digital contact. This way, you can digitise business cards with your smartphone, no typing of names, phone numbers or email addresses required.
neco uses optical character recognition, or OCR for this. The app reads the contact data from your scan and automatically assigns it to the correct fields. Your filled contact is then ready to be saved immediately.
You can edit individual fields if recognition is affected by poor lighting, camera quality, or an unusual card design.
The scanner is designed for received paper business cards. The QR code on your digital neco business card, on the other hand, is for sharing your own contact details.
After scanning
The contact stays together with its context.
After saving, you'll find the person you captured in your neco contacts. You can add a note about how you met, what you discussed, or what the next step should be. neco also automatically records the time and location.
Send your own neco card back right away.
Immediately after saving, you decide whether to send your main card to the newly added contacts. Choose the neco email option, write a personal message in your email app, or skip this step. Nothing will be sent without your choice.

How can I scan a business card with my smartphone?
Open the scan view in the neco app, point your camera at the paper business card so that all details are clearly visible, and start the scan. neco detects the contact info and prepares a digital contact for you to save.

Do I always have to correct the recognized contact details?
No. neco is designed to reliably recognize the information and prepare the contact for saving right away. If tricky lighting, unusual design, or camera quality affects recognition, you can edit any field as needed.
How many paper business cards can I scan?
The Standard plan includes 15 scans per month. With Premium and Enterprise, you can use the business card scanner with no limits. Bulk scans are also available in those plans.
Can I scan multiple cards or both sides of a business card?
Premium and Enterprise plans let you scan multiple paper business cards in bulk. For double-sided cards, tap the “2” icon to enable double-sided scanning and capture both front and back.
Can neco also scan trade show or event badges?
No. The business card scanner is currently intended for paper business cards. Trade show and event badges are not supported.
Can I send my own neco card by email after scanning?
Yes. Right after saving one or more contacts, you can send your main card via neco email to all newly added contacts. Alternatively, you can open your default email app for a personal message or skip this step with “Don’t send”. Nothing will be sent without your confirmation.
Where can I find a scanned business card again?
After saving, you'll find the captured person as a contact in neco. There you can add context notes. With Premium or Enterprise, selected contacts can later be exported directly to a supported CRM or address book.
